About

The intertidal zone is the living edge between land and sea—the space revealed at low tide and submerged at high tide. It is one of the most dynamic ecosystems on earth, constantly reshaped by the pull of the moon, the rhythm of the seasons, and the movement of water. It is also one of the places that most deeply reminds me of how alive and interconnected everything is.

At its core, winemaking for me is about connection: sharing something universal, sensory, and human. These wines are meant to be expressions of that wonder—caring for the land, respecting time, and being part of something larger than ourselves.

My hope is that through sharing wine (and food and human connection), that people feel a deeper awe and care for everything around us.

Eat something farmed locally, drink a glass of water, breathe some fresh air today.

Thank you for being here.

Alli Badar

Winemaker

Background

Alli found winemaking through several twists and turns. After dancing professionally and teaching yoga after college, she got a job at Times Ten Cellars in Fort Worth, Texas and quickly fell in love with winemaking. This prompted a move to California in 2017, where she got briefly immersed in the tech world--working for an insurance tech startup for several years.

Eventually, winemaking was too big of an itch to ignore. Alli set off to UC Davis to pursue her Master's in Viticulture and Enology, studying smoke impact amelioration in the Oberholster Lab for her master's research. While at Davis, the Historic Vineyard Society gave a seminar at the student tasting group and immediately captivated her attention. Alli applied to work harvest at Bedrock Wine Co after graduation, a place that married her fascination with old vines, regenerative viticulture, and thoughtful, precise winemaking--it was the perfect fit.

She is grateful to be part of the winemaking team at Bedrock by day, making Intertidal by night (and sometimes very early in the morning), and still makes time to sneak out to play on the coast or in the mountains on the weekends.

During harvest 2023, Alli adopted a pet snail named Gail, who, while not a marine snail, inspired a lot of mollusk fascination in her life (and probably some sideways glances). This probably also influenced the naming of Intertidal Wine Co.
